in transit...

The night before leaving Guatemala City, Felix got sick. We stayed up all night with him, then made our way to the airport at 7:30 am.

The first leg of our itinerary was a 3.5 hour flight to Dallas/Fort Worth. We sat 3 across with Felix on our laps, and at 35,000 feet, he began getting sick again. Our fellow passengers were forgiving, the cabin crew was not. Thankfully, we had some pedialite to keep him hydrated during the day. He was a trooper!

At DFW, we cleared customs & our little immigrant became an automatic US citizen! We had nearly 5 hours in Dallas, and really wanted him to rest comfortably. We came upon an abandoned army cot at a secluded gate, and set-up camp. We tried to rig up a receiving blanket to block the flourescent lights. He slept for almost 2 hours.

We arrived in Seattle after a grueling 12 hour day, and Felix got to meet Abuela Sandy!

He is being treated by a doctor for a virus, and in the spirit of family unity, Russ and I both became sick in a matter of days. We are all recovering, adjusting to family life, and taking care of each other.
